To help future professionals apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, VALPRO – one of the largest metal processing companies in the Baltics – offers internship opportunities across various departments, including the Sales Department. Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences Business Management student Ervīns Boikovs (3rd year) shares his experience of interning at VALPRO and how this opportunity led him to become a full-time employee. 

 

During his internship, Ervīns had the chance to become part of the VALPRO team and put his university knowledge into practice. 

“I joined VALPRO thanks to Vidzemes University, as during my studies I participated in a joint project with the regional branch of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where I conducted research on the impact of energy resources on the business environment. VALPRO was one of the companies involved in this research,” Ervīns explains. 

 

“The key tasks during my internship were related to market research in the gas business and attracting potential clients for the Inspection Department. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow and develop. I truly felt that VALPRO values its employees. The company is open not only to new talent but also actively supports the development of its existing team members. In my view, this is the approach of a dynamic and modern company. 

 After completing my internship, I was offered the chance to stay at VALPRO as a full-time employee. It’s still hard to believe how quickly I’ve been able to grow – I started as an intern in the Sales Department, then became a Sales Assistant, and now I am a Sales Manager in the Inspection Department.” 

 

“The main skill I have developed is patience, which is crucial in the Sales Department – building new partnerships and reaching potential clients is not always a quick or easy process. I am fortunate that VALPRO is supportive when it comes to balancing work and studies. The lecturers at Vidzemes University also appreciate students who are willing to combine studies with real work experience. I am proud to be part of the VALPRO team.”
